January 2009Portland, OR - Barrett & Assoc. Engineering, a local high-tech consulting engineering firm, today announced that the firm's Principal Engineer, Mr. Patrick H. Barrett, PE, has been elected to the office of Chairman of the Oregon IEEE Consultants' Network (ORCNET). The ORCNET, is a local group of IEEE Members who are Electro-Technical Experts (mostly electronic and software engineers) available for hire on a contract basis. The IEEE, (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, pronounced "Eye-triple-E"), is a non-profit, technical professional association of more than 377,000 individual members in 150 countries. By virtue of its members, the IEEE is a leading authority in technical areas ranging from computer engineering, biomedical technology, and telecommunications, to electric power, aerospace and consumer electronics.

The IEEE annually hosts more than 300 major conferences and maintains nearly 900 active Standards, with another 700 under development. Mr. Barrett, a graduate of Portland State University (PSU) and a Licensed Engineer noted his gratification on election to this office and his determination to maintain the high standards set by his predecessor. |
